At this Homepage you can find all relevant information of the Disaster Management Conference that takes place on October 8 and 9 in the City Hall of Bonn. In 2008 the Conference discusses
Disaster Management in Europe: Information – Coordination – Operation
within a main programme of two days and up to ten panel sessions. More than 1.300 delegates from 40 nations are expected to participate in the European Congress on Disaster Management.
The main programme of the Conference will handle the following topics:
Session I / Opening Session and Political Initiatives
- The Roadmap to a European Civil-Protection Strategy
- Disaster Management in Europe – Conclusions of the Triple-Presidency and Future Perspectives
Session II / Information
- An information model for coordinated Disaster-Response in Europe
- Information Policy in critical Situations
- Natural Disasters in Southeast Asia – Lessons learned and future perspectives
- Discussion Round: Information management within the European Civil Protection
- Civil utilisation of military Surveillance Systems – the German SAR-Lupe cooperation
Session III / Coordination
- Contributions of the United Nations within international major disasters
- NATO´s role within the European Disaster Management – The civil structure of NATO and EADRCC
- Principles of Coordination within the EU Community Mechanism
- Discussion Round: Coordinated Operation? Strategies and international Perspectives
Session IV / Operation
- Logistic in the field of Disaster Management – Experiences of Industries
- Joint Operations – A challenge for Staff and Logistics
- Preparedness in the European Union – The EU Modularly System
In addition to the main programme, there will be up to ten specific panel discussion rounds. Among others, the following topics will be handled:
